As the brand evolved, Laura knew she wanted to create a line of contemporary jewelry that was inspired by her vintage collection and paired perfectly with her favorite pieces. Affectionately named “Laura Gray” after Laura’s own jewelry-loving grandmother, the contemporary collection debuted in September 2024, and features intricate hand enamelwork and rare vintage gemstones.

The team travels regularly from Athens to Paris to Palm Beach, curating treasures on their extensive journeys. Each piece in the collection must pass the “is it fabulous?” test, reflecting a commitment to quality and style. Founder

Laura’s love for bold jewelry began growing up in Milwaukee, when her grandmother would allow her to play with her extensive jewelry collection. This passion led her to study art history in San Francisco, followed by years of traveling and living throughout Europe and Asia. While living abroad, Laura refined her eye for design, drawing inspiration from international antique and jewelry markets, as well as the rich and diverse cultures of the various countries she spent time in.

After relocating and putting down roots in NYC, Laura launched Kimono Dragon in 2019, while working in administration and HR for small tech startups. Despite the late nights, Laura’s unwavering love and dedication to Kimono Dragon has propelled her to the next step: creating her own vintage-inspired collection. The Laura Gray collection is a loving tribute to her first inspiration, her grandmother, whose maiden name was Gray.

Head of Brand Marketing and Communications

With over 15 years of experience as a strategic communications professional, Catherine has honed her expertise in developing and executing impactful communications plans and campaigns for both early-stage startups and established global market leaders. Her skills in crafting messaging and compelling content that align with a company’s brand, vision, and values are essential in her role as head of brand at Kimono Dragon. Like her sister, Laura, Catherine’s passion for vintage treasures began at an early age.
