Our Founder & Creative Director
With 20 years of experience in textile design and a passion for non-toxic living, Alexandra Ulmer set out to create a brand that blends her love for timeless design with her commitment to product safety and environmental responsibility. Born on the prairie, she skipped to London to study Knitwear Design at Central Saint Martins and then spent the next 12 years designing knitwear for luxury fashion brands and as a patented material innovator at Nike. Before starting a family of her own, she obviously had to create the perfect baby blanket, starting with creating a new supply chain from scratch.

What’s in a name?
AU Baby, pronounced “OH Baby” is a play on words that represents both our purpose and origin. Combining our founder’s initials “AU” and the French meaning “for the baby,” our name reflects our mission: creating luxurious, sustainable products thoughtfully designed for little ones, with love and care at every step.
